The Trailblazer stamps were designed for 1″ hexes. Most of the stamps are mounted on 1″ blocks, but there are some smaller 1/2″ stamps that can be used to add details such as individual trees.

The Cartographers stamps were designed for smaller hexes or squares that measure 1/2″ or less. Some of the designs from Trailblazer reoccur in the Cartographers edition, such as trees and farmland with straight furrows.

The Basic Cartographers set was created for use with the board-game published by Thunderworks Games (pictured below). The Campaign edition edition adds many additional designs.

Stylistically, the Cartographers stamps have more detail, and make more use of “white space”. For example, the Trailblazer

Stencils are optional, but they add a lot of texture and variety to maps. They also serve a practical purpose, making it possible to create large sheets of hexes that would be difficult to print at home.
